Swim guiding and coaching in the South Lake District

I am an experienced swimmer with many years of experience of working in Outdoor Education.

With a background in Outdoor Education/coaching, I have travelled and worked all over the world.
I have taught kayaking, canoeing, windsurfing, sailing and skiing plus the usual outdoor centre activities in the UK, Ireland, Italy and Canada. I have lived in Cumbria all my life other than when travelling for work.

I have spent most of my life in or on the water. Since 2004 I started to actively become passionate about swimming. Initially to train and take part in triathlons but then discovered the social and fun side of dipping, winter dipping and swimming. I am also actively involved as a volunteer for Save Grange Lido, a local Lido we are hoping to open after it closed in 1993.

Safety is paramount and I want to ensure my passion for safety in the outdoors is passed on. A first aid kit, emergency shelter, spare clothing and a bivi bag are the minimum kit I carry when leading groups.

Risk assessments for each venue are updated regularly and a dynamic risk assessment made each session. Operating procedures and emergency action plans are in place and updated regularly.

Full kit info is sent to you before a session to ensure you have the kit to keep yourself safe and warm, this will be checked prior to starting the activity..
